The design of this restaurant was inspired by the sesame
seed. Sesame seeds are small, black or white, and though simple in nature,
provide rich oils and flavors to food. The natural woods, both dark and light,
used in the design represent the natural state of the seed while the use of
stainless steel represents the oils that the seed can offer. The use of a
neutral palette allows customers to enjoy their own personal experience while
not being influenced by the numerous feelings colors can sometimes bring.
The furniture is placed to create an open floor plan. The
tables set up on the south end of the restaurant provide a private dining
atmosphere where customers would be farther away from the larger, central
public dining space. The five tables on the west side of the restaurant are
made more private by being placed in between two partition walls.
